| The museo delle Mure, part of the Aurelian Wall |
Yesterday we went to the Via Appia Antica, but first to the Museum of the Walls, which has information about the walls around Rome. The museum is found in a doorway tower of the Aurelian Wall. This wall was built around 275 AD, and was the second wall of Rome. The first, smaller, was built around 300 BC. Pieces of the walls can be found around Rome, in particular there's one in front of the Termini train station.
Then, on the Via Appia Antica we visited the place where Nazis killed 330 innocent people after the incident of Resistance on Via Rasella (which is where we live). The partisans killed about 30 people, most of them soldiers but some innocent. Then the Nazi's took 330 people to this cave and shot them.

Also along the Appian Way is the spot where Jesus appeared to St. Peter when Peter was fleeing Rome, and Peter said "Quo Vadis" and Jesus said he was going to Rome to be crucified again. Here is a stone copy of Jesus's footprints.
