What works in Rome

People complain about what doesn't work in Rome, so in this post I'm making a list of what does work in Rome.
Fountains!
These pictures are of the fountains at a minor villa park.  All the fountains in Rome work and are even clean.

Public water!
There are running public drinking fountains everywhere.  The water is good and you can fill your water bottles from them.

The audio guides in churches!
You put in one Euro, and there's a little ear thing you pick up and it tells you about the church, with a slide show.

Cars and motorcycles stop when you just walk out in front of them!

Gelato!
We went to this place today and had the following flavors: (Andy had the first 2 and I had the other 3)
spiced apple cinnamon
lemon
chocolate
prickly pear
toasted almond orange
pistachio meringue

Condom machines!

I don't know if these actually work, but it's a good idea.

Parking!
Park anywhere!  Including 4 inches from our front door!

To be continued.  I need good photo of
-Stores that sell only fruit
-The pink and brown buildings
-My annual metro pass
and more

  1. This posting was fascinating. Gelato, condom machines, parking anywhere . . . so cool. On the other hand, I remember as child seeing a person hit by a car in Rome (he flew up into the air, landed, got up, and - miraculously - walked away). So can you actually step out in front of oncoming traffic whenever you want? Has life changed that much in - I don't know -40 some odd years?
