Two churches - I'm amazed at the degree to which Popes and rich patrons are given the same treatment as Jesus and Mary.  If you knew nothing about the religion and looked at some of these places you'd get the impression that they worshiped myriads of old guys in dresses.

Santa Maria della Minerva:

Statue of Jesus by Michaelangelo.  He sculpted it nude and the drape was added later.
Andy says it looks like he's holding the hose at a gas station to pump gas.

  1. Indeed - it's interesting to reflect on what all these artists would have done had this version of Christianity prohibited human statuary (graven images?). The Church must have paid out a fortune to artists of the time, no? I have no idea if that's how it worked - just guessing ...
